Sudan armed forces make first-time advancement in Omdurman

Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) have made their first advance in Omdurman since the war with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) began in April last year, joining their peers in the engineering corps in the south of the city after being besieged by RSF.

The army ordered an ethnic group living by the Nile in eastern Omdurman to leave their homes, and upon returning, they found their homes occupied by soldiers. The SAF has been accused of targeting non-Arab groups from Darfur and committing genocide in this area. The RSF is also accused of ethnic cleansing in West Darfur.

Overall, more than 10,000 people have been killed in Sudan since the beginning of the war in a struggle for power between two generals.
