Missing Shia Muslims’ families, including elderly parents and children observed hunger strike outside the Karachi Press Club in protest against enforced disappearance of their bread-earners.

They gathered under the banner of Shia Missing Persons Release Committee and began token hunger strike in front of the KPC.

The committee head Syed Rashid Rizvi and the families’ elders spoke on the occasion. They reiterated their stance that those subjected to enforced disappearance are entitled to legal defence in the court of law therefore they must be produced in the court of law. They demanded that their undeclared arrest and illegal detention must end forthwith.

They said that the state institutions must stop economic assassination of Shia families by putting their bread-earners behind the bars without denying them their fundamental human rights guaranteed in the constitution of Pakistan.
