A group of Shia worshippers yesterday chanted ‘Allahu Akbar’ as President Muhammadu Buhari observed Juma’at prayers at the National Mosque, Abuja.

The group chanted Allahu Akbar when the Murshid, general administrator of the mosque, Professor Shehu Ahmad Galadanci, was saying a special prayer for the president and the country.

The two-rakat Juma’at prayers started around 2:03pm and ended peacefully by 2:11pm. At the mosque were the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Tanko Mohammed, Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and the Etsu Nupe, Yahaya Abubakar, and other state officials.

The president observed the Juma’at prayers at the National Mosque as part of activities lined up for his inauguration for second term.
