Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Sadeq al-Husseini al-Shirazi gave a speech on the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, in presence of a large gathering of scholars, religious seminary students and Ahlulbayt followers.

“I extend my condolences to the Imam of Our Time, Imam Mahdi, may Allah hasten his reappearance, on this great calamity, which lives on after centuries. I thank all those who have performed the Husseini rituals in any way these days and everywhere in the world,” asserting that it is not possible to count the rewards of these services and rituals to the Imam, peace be upon him.

His Eminence explained, “My advice to you all is to examine what is associated with this calamity in many books in order to know the greatness of the day of Ashura. Blessed is the one who has been hurt, tortured, imprisoned, or had his/her money confiscated in order to perform the rituals of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, these days.”

He pointed out that the issue of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, from Tawalli and Tabarri aspects, is very dangerous and has no compromise.

His Eminence stressed, “Woe to those who stand in the face of the Husseini rituals, God the Almighty wanted Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, to be martyred thirsty in this tragic manner, and in return all those who contributed in the killing of the Imam in the world will enter the Hellfire, God willing.”

His Eminence recommended, “I advise the honorable men that if the wife does not perform all her domestic duties well due to her participation in the mourning ceremonies, do not blame her. Likewise, I advise the women to not blame their husbands for the same reason.  I advise parents to encourage and urge their young children to perform or continue performing the Husseini rituals.”

His Eminence added, “Blessed are those who have lost their lives for the sake of Imam Hussein, and I extend my condolences to the martyrs of the Twereej Run.”

His Eminence concluded by saying that the months of Muharram and Safar are sorrowful months and that the grief and lamentation should continue till the last day of Safar.
