Iraq: Anbar Criminal Court sentences the murderer of Mustafa al-Athari to death

The Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council announced, on Sunday, that the Anbar Criminal Court had issued a death sentence for the murderer of the martyr Mustafa al-Athari.

The Council said in a statement, “The Anbar Criminal Court issued a death sentence by hanging for the criminal who brutally killed the deceased soldier Mustafa al-Athari.”

He added, “The convicted person confessed to having committed the crime, and the court issued the verdict in accordance with Article 4/1 of the Anti-Terrorism Law.”

It is reported that the deceased martyr was killed and his body was hung from the Fallujah Bridge, which sparked a wave of popular anger.
