Professors and students of the Karbala Islamic Seminary sent a letter to the Iraqi Prime Minister demanding to open the borders to foreign pilgrims of Imam Hussein, peace be upon him, for Arbaeen.

The letter, which included the signatures of seminary professors and students, stated that Arbaeen Pilgrimage is considered by the believers as one of the greatest Husseini rituals, where tens of millions of people from inside and outside Iraq gather in the holy city to commemorate it.

It added that the religious authority represented by His Eminence, Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Sadiq al-Husseini al-Shirazi, openly stated that the Iraqi government must fulfill its humanitarian, religious and national duty to the Arbaeen Pilgrimage and facilitate the entry of pilgrims, as the Iraqi constitution guarantees the freedom to venerate and practice the holy Husseini rituals.

The Seminary demanded that the Iraqi borders be opened to pilgrims from different countries and that the procedures be facilitated, with an emphasis on the importance of taking into account health aspects and working with its precautions.
