Shia Rights Watch praises Christians and Mandaeans’ stances in Ashura

Shia Rights Watch World Organization praised the humanitarian stances of Iraqi Christians and Mandaeans represented by their participations in Ashura rituals.

The Christian and Mandaean communities in the southern Iraqi city of Basra and other various cities in the country have decided to take part in marking Ashura anniversary through participating in many Husseini processions.

SRW regards these stances as a deep message that affirms the peaceful co-existence among the Iraqis of different doctrines and beliefs and a big blow to takfiri groups.

SWR pointed out that such stances reflect the fact that Imam Hussein’s revolution is not only for Muslims and for Shia; Imam Hussein is for the entire universe and his message is a message of peace, humanity and sacrifice.

Ashura marks the day when Imam Hussein, along with 72 of his companions, was martyred in Karbala.

Imam Hussein’s martyrdom is considered by Shia Muslims as a symbol of the struggle against injustice and the need to preserve the purity of Islam.
