UNAMA: 3,498 Afghan civilians killed, 7,920 wounded in 2016

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released its annual report regarding civilian casualties incurred during the year 2016.

 

 

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) released its annual report regarding civilian casualties incurred during the year 2016.

The UN mission said it documented 11,418 civilian casualties throughout the entire last year.

The report further added that over all 3,498 civilians were killed and at least 7,920 were injured during 2016, showing a 3.7 percent rise as compared to the previous year.

“Since 2009, the armed conflict in Afghanistan has claimed the lives of 24,841 civilians and injured 45,347 others,” the report added.
