1.29 billion square meters contaminated with mines and remnants of war in Basra

A source in the Directorate of Civil Defense, on Wednesday, stated that the province of Basra contains areas contaminated with mines and remnants of war estimated at one billion and 294 million square meters.

 

 

A source in the Directorate of Civil Defense, on Wednesday, stated that the province of Basra contains areas contaminated with mines and remnants of war estimated at one billion and 294 million square meters.

The source told Al-Maaloumah that “Civil defense teams are carrying out mine-clearing operations in the contaminated areas, especially the border areas.”

The teams have cleared large areas of land and lifted remnants of war worth thousands of dollars.
