The Anatolia news agency reported that the authorities had postponed the families and children near the scene, while the German police opened an investigation into the incident.

The CCTV cameras show the approach of an unknown person with his dogs, from the waste containers in front of the mosque, and take out something from his collection. The cameras did not show the moment of the fire in the containers. The flames began to ignite as he left the scene.
