Jawad Hijri, press secretary of the state governor, said that the incident took place in Bahrak district, without giving further details.

Hijri said that the Afghan army was able to repel an attack by terrorist militants on the city of Talukan, the state capital.

“Air strikes were carried out against the gathering places of the militants, which resulted in the killing of 36 terrorists,” the press secretary said.

He pointed out that the army sent to the city, military reinforcements in order to control the situation.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but observers believe the Taliban is behind it.
