The Republic of Tajikistan is preparing to open the largest mosque in Central Asia located in the city of “Dushanbe” the capital of the country during the month of March.

The Republic of Tajikistan is preparing to open the largest mosque in Central Asia located in the city of “Dushanbe” the capital of the country during the month of March.

The cornerstone laying ceremony for the mosque was held in October 2009 and the building was designed by professionals from Tajikistan and Qatar.

This mosque includes four minarets, a large main dome and 20 small domes, and can accommodate 120 thousand worshipers.

This mosque is located on the northern outskirts of Dushanbe and also includes a library, museum, meeting room and reception room. The value of the project is estimated at about $100 million.
