The Philippine government has canceled the Muslim Youth Census Project following the protest of leaders of the Muslim “Moor” minority in the south of the country, including members of the Moro Muslims ’autonomy, over the central government’s project to count Muslim students in Manila when they were sworn in before the Philippine President.

After the protest, the head of the police in the Philippine capital, Manila, canceled the project, which Muslim leaders described as abusing and a racist practice against them.

Member of the Southern Philippine Self-Government Zia Alto Adionic, Commander of the Philippine National Police, said: “We do not allow racist practices by the police forces against Muslims.”

He added that the census of Muslim students puts their lives at risk and demanded that it be stopped, which led to the police announcing the suspension of the project.
